2014 Stuff-A-Bus campaign seeks to fill empty shelves

The 27th Annual Stuff A Bus Campaign is underway. The goal is to fill a retired City Link Bus with 10 Tons of food. The food is distributed all year long through the Peoria Friendship House Food Pantry. It’s estimated the campaign produced 70,000 meals annually for Peoria families in need. Melanie McNiff is CEO of Peoria Friendship House.  She says the pantry’s shelves are almost empty:

“Literally what’s left on our shelves are green beans and corns and green peas. The proteins are such a critical component.”

The bus will be at various Kroger stores in the Peoria-area through December 1st. City Link passengers who donate a non-perishable food item can ride free November 5th and 12th. Food and cash donations of three, five or ten dollars can be made at Kroger stores in Peoria and East Peoria in addition to other drop-off sites like the Caterpillar Visitors Center.
