East Peoria approves soil study costs for proposed apartment complex site

The East Peoria City Council approved an engineering study that looks at building a residential complex in the Levee District. The city will spend up to $15,000 to Midwest Engineering for required soil sampling on the property. City Commissioner Gary Densberger says he has confidence the proposed development will move forward with a multi-unit apartment building on the Civic Triangle land:

“If this project for whatever reason doesn’t come to fruition, I think the council has substantial interest as we’ve stated in seeking a residential component.”

Densberger says the city can also use the soil studies for any future developments if needed. In other business, the council pulled a special use request that would allow for a possible medical marijuana dispensary on Farmdale Road near Route 8. Densberger says that was at the request of the petitioner, Clay Moushon, to work out further details with the state.
