A well-known former Peoria Manual basketball coach died Wednesday following an illness.
Reports say 59-year-old coach Wayne McClain died after a bout with pneumonia. He led Peoria Manual to three consecutive state championships from 1995 to 1997.
McClain was the current boys’ basketball coach at Champaign Central High School and was also a former University of Illinois Assistant Basketball Coach. He is survived by his wife Robin, son and daughter
