Caterpillar invited area journalists to learn more about the company and drive some of the construction and mining equipment. It’s part of Cat’s Media Day event at the Edwards Demonstration and Learning Center. The two-acre facility has a large testing arena where as many as 200 people can see drivers perform coordinated movements. Center Supervisor Chad Cremeens says the demonstrations are partly intended to show off Cat’s products:
“That really highlight Caterpillar products and does it in a way that we designed and intended them to be operated. But at the same time, if we can get a shock and awe type of response, we obviously are looking for that too.
Cremeens says the another main purpose of the demonstrations is to help train employees on the best ways to operate machines. Media members also got hands on experience driving select construction and mining equipment around the Edwards Learning Center campus.
