What's needed in a new Peoria Police Chief?

The Advisory Committee on Police Community Relations in Peoria is weighing in on the qualities it would like to see in a new police chief. The city is in the process of seeking a new police leader after Chief Steve Settingsgard left the position in May.

The most requested quality committee members suggested was finding someone who understands the city of Peoria, either through promoting from within, or hiring locally. They want someone who is well versed in the community’s anti-crime programs like “Don’t Shoot.” The Advisory Committee also sites diversity as something it would like to see.

The Peoria City Manager asked the Police Community Relations Committee for its input.
