Disaster relief center closes in Washington

A disaster relief center in Washington is closing tomorrow.

The Central Illinois Churches of Christ Disaster Relief Effort Resource Center opened following last November’s devastating tornado to help area residents recover.

The center reduced its hours of operation in the spring and has seen a drastic decline in people seeking their services.  Staff say they’re glad the community reached a point where their services are no longer needed.

Since last year’s tornado, the resource center distributed over five hundred thousand dollars worth of new items, food, clothing and household goods to tornado victims in Washington, East Peoria and Pekin.
