Jon Bateman to fill District 150 board vacancy

The District 150 School Board wants a Richwoods High School parent to fill a board vacancy. The Board chose Jon Bateman after interviewing eight candidates interested in the Third District seat.  Bateman retired from the US Army and currently works for Caterpillar.  He also serves in the district's Parents As Leaders program. Bateman says he’s willing to meet with the grassroots political group ‘Change 150’ which says it’s ‘cautiously optimistic’ about the selection:

“Agree to disagree and find common ground and be able to work together or you can dig in your heels and refuse to work with people and no one wins in that type of situation. At the end of the day I think it’s important for parties on both sides to be prepared to work with one another.”

The School Board picked Bateman over Change 150’s candidate, Dan Adler, and six other people who interviewed for the post.  Bateman will serve a one-year term ending next June.  The school board will vote to formally appoint Bateman at its August 11th meeting.
