Full-service schools could benefit from legislative proposal

Congressman Aaron Schock introduced legislation that boosts competitive grant funding for full-service community schools. Schock is a co-sponsor of the Full-Service Community Schools Act.

The measure would authorize five-year grants for communities wanting to implement full-service community schools. The idea of such a school is to provide a variety of social, and health services that support students, families and community members.

Manual, Trewyn and Harrison Schools are the full-service community facilities in District 150. They’ve been operating under that education premise for more than three years.
