Ham radio operators around the world compete in an annual Field Day exercise at the end of June. This year, the Peoria Area Amateur Radio Club set up several stations at Bass Pro Shop in East Peoria. The club is also celebrating the centennial anniversary of the American Radio Relay League, an association that continues to develop a communication system that works when all else fails. Peoria Public Radio’s Executive Director Tom Hunt is also a ham radio operator. He attended the Field Day exercise and filed this report:
