Some area counties and cities are receiving state grants to prepare for emergencies. The Illinois Emergency Management Agency is awarding seven Peoria area agencies nearly 177-thousand dollars for emergency response efforts.
The city of Peoria and county will receive about 68-thousand dollars of the funding while Tazewell County is expected to get about 43-thousand. Other counties to receive state money include Fulton, Knox, Marshall, and Stark.
The money comes from the Federal Emergency Management Agency and can be used for day-to-day operations of local emergency management programs.
