Student essays about November tornado on display

Tazewell County student essays about what hope looks like are featured tonight at Barnes and Noble.

K-12 students wrote about their experiences from last November’s tornado as part of a United Way essay contest.

Success by 6, a United Way education initiative, is holding a Writing Contest Celebration at Barnes and Noble this evening from 5:30-7:00.

The Heart of Illinois United Way’s Tornado Relief Fund offered the essay contest as a way to help the community with long-term recovery.

A book fair is taking place throughout the day. Proceeds benefit Tazewell County schools in areas affected by the tornado.
