The city of Peoria is seeking public comment before making a formal bid to relocate the historic LST 325 Ship to the riverfront.
The owners of the World War II naval craft and museum are considering a move to Peoria when its contract ends with Evansville, Indiana next year. The ship has lived at the Evansville port for a decade, but has seen declining attendance.
Bringing the floating military museum to Peoria could cost the city one-point-five million dollars. Peoria residents have three ways to weigh in on the issue: a public meeting at 6:30 next Tuesday night at the Gateway Building, an online surveyand a Facebook page. The city council will consider the public’s response at its June 24th meeting.
