District 150 Board talks likely seat vacancy

The District 150 School Board met in executive session last night to discuss the likely steps needed to fill the upcoming vacancy for the board seat currently held by Laura Petelle. She was defeated by Sue Wolstenholm in the spring election. But Wolstenholm says she plans to resign the post. That gives the board 45 days from that time to fill the seat. School Board president Rick Cloyd says the meeting was to review the policy that spells out how to fill a vacancy:

“We have to provide notice that there’s a vacancy, we have to receive information from those who are interested...and then at some point we MAY conduct interviews which would be the case, and then at that point the board has to decide who they’d like to add to fill the vacancy,” Cloyd says.

Petelle’s term expires June 30th. Cloyd won’t comment whether the District has already received applications for the seat. The ‘Change 150’ Group is also preparing to put forward its own list of recommended candidates.
