District 150 ‘State of Schools’ address moved to this fall

The annual District 150 ‘State of The Schools’ address is usually this month. But Superintendent Grenita Lathan is working with the Peoria Chamber of Commerce to instead hold the annual event in the fall.  Lathan says the new date is better because the district has more financial and staff hiring data to report compared to the spring:

“You would spend from January to May working on a speech and it’s like, we really don't have the information. We want to make it meaningful,” Lathan says.

The Chamber sponsors the annual speech that updates business leaders and the community on important issues in the District.  Lathan says she also wants to have a separate ‘State of the Schools’ update specifically for parents. She says two speeches can better focus information for business owners and parents, respectively.
