The Peoria City Council voted to buy a home on the city's South Side to expand its resident officer program. The city is buying the home at 1916 West Kettelle Street for $56,000. City Councilwoman Denise Moore says First District residents can benefit from the program:
“This is a district and an area that has been wanting this for so long that we were willing to go out and build a house if it took that,” Moore says.
The city’s resident officer program places officers to live and work in high-crime areas. Resident officers are already established in the city’s West and East Bluff neighborhoods.
