Peoria residents again addressed Mayor Jim Ardis and the City Council over the parody Twitter account and subsequent investigation. Some speakers told Ardis he needs to resign, and the police investigation harmed both residents and the city as a whole. Other speakers criticized the creator of the fake Twitter account for hiding behind the First Amendment to attack Ardis.
The creator of the parody account is Jon Daniel. He’s not facing charges. But Jacob Elliot was arrested for pot possession following the police raid surrounding the investigation.
The Peoria Journal Star reports that Elliot was indicted Tuesday on two charges of marijuana possession. One charge carries a prison term up to three years.
