Free agrichemical disposal for Tazewell, seven other counties

Residents of eight Central Illinois Counties can dispose of unwanted agricultural chemicals and pesticides this summer through a free program.  The Illinois Department of Agriculture’s ‘Clean Sweep’ program is for farmers and residents in Tazewell, Mason and six other counties.  Officials say proper disposal of agrichemicals is expensive, and the program is an efficient way to dispose of the materials.

Participants must register the products they plan to dispose of by July 14th with the State Department of Agriculture.  People who register will then get a reservation card with the date, time and location of their collection site.  Forms can be obtained by calling the Illinois Department of Agriculture’s Pesticide Hotline.
