East Peoria recognizes residents, former employee for service

The City of East Peoria honored a resident who named the new downtown Levee District.  The city recognized Don Taylor for winning the naming contest.  East Peoria Mayor Dave Mingus says the event also recognizes the resident buy-in for the new downtown:

“The resident support has been overwhelming since the beginning of these projects, we want our residents to be a part of it, our residents named it, our residents really make it what it is, and we’re so grateful for their support, and it continues today,” Mingus says.

Mingus also presented a newly-planted tree and set a rock honoring former city clerk Berta Dinkins.  She served the city for 42-years and retired in 2010.  The dedication took place in front of the new East Peoria Civic Plaza in the Levee District.
