Jump Trading Simulation and Education Center receives LEED Gold status

Another Peoria facility is being awarded for being environmentally friendly. The U.S. Green Building Council has given LEED Gold certification to the Jump Trading Simulation and Education Center on the campus of OSF Saint Francis Medical Center.

Dr. Kathleen Forbes is the Chief Clinical Officer of OSF Healthcare System. She says the Jump building met several qualifications to receive the rating.

“We were able to recycle 95-percent of the construction waste from the building. We were also able to keep 4.6 million pounds of waste out of our landfills. And about a third of the building is manufactured recycled materials,” says Forbes.

The Jump facility joins six other buildings in Peoria with LEED certification including the Caterpillar Visitors Center, Peoria Riverfront Museum and Bradley University’s Alumni Center and Westlake Hall.
