State funding for Peoria highway facility

The Illinois Department of Transportation highway maintenance facilities in Peoria, Wenona, and El Paso are receiving renovations thanks to nearly a half million dollars from the Illinois Jobs Now! construction program. It’s the state’s largest-ever construction program designed to create jobs.

Governor Quinn claims the harsh winter caused many to realize how vital it is to have proper upkeep of highway maintenance facilities. The Governor says the construction workers the projects employ will benefit local economies.

The repairs will be done on the Peoria Maintenance Building and the salt domes in Wenona and El Paso.

Laverdiere Construction of Macomb is handling the projects with the lowest of four bidders at $451-thousand dollars. The Illinois Capital Development Board is overseeing the projects.
