WEEK to get new owners

WEEK TV is getting a new owner. Quincy Newspapers announced the television station is one of three it’s acquiring from Granite Broadcasting Corporation.

The media company will also provide operating services to WHOI and WAOE in Peoria and Bloomington. It’s adding nine stations overall to its broadcasting portfolio. That brings the total number of stations owned by Quincy to 23. It also owns and operates two radio stations and newspapers in Quincy and Newton, New Jersey.

The purchase of the stations is subject to federal regulatory approval. The closing is expected later this year.
