Peo. County getting $300,000 to help non-violent offenders

The Peoria County Probation Department is getting $300,000 in state funding to help non-violent offenders stay out of prison.  The funding is part of $7 million across the state through the Adult Re-deploy Program aimed at reducing crime and boosting public safety.

The money will help fund supervision and therapy services for non-violent offenders.  Governor Pat Quinn's office says that since 2011, the program has diverted more than 1,000 non-violent offenders.
