District 150’s high schools will join the Big 12 Conference next school year. That includes all sports except football, which starts in the conference in 2015. District Athletic Director Bob Darling says the move will boost competition for the three district high schools and Notre Dame High School:
“It’s been sad that for the last three or four years we’ve been struggling to find a conference, and to find something that fits us, we’re very excited about it and we think it;s going to be good for our athletes,” Darling says.
The conference includes schools in Bloomington-Normal, Champaign and Danville. He says conference meets for tennis, swimming soccer and volleyball are planned for next school year.
