Quinn touts veterans lottery program during Peoria stop

Governor Pat Quinn stopped in Peoria Monday to tout an ongoing lottery program aimed at helping veterans.   Quinn says proceeds from the newest Veterans Cash lottery ticket pays for services that help longtime and returning veterans:

“Employment assistance, making sure that disability benefits are received, making sure we have decent health care for our veterans.  In some cases the Veterans Administration doesn’t cover the health insurance needs of our veterans,” Quinn says.

The new $2 Veterans Cash lottery ticket is available state-wide.  Quinn made his remarks at Goodwill of Central Illinois, which gets proceeds from the Veterans Cash program.  Goodwill officials use the funds to pay for clothing, sleeping bags and dental work for veterans in-need.  Goodwill of Peoria serves hundreds of area veterans each year
