Family Resources Center now open

The Catholic Diocese of Peoria’s free-loan library now has a new home. Members of the Diocese officially opened the Family Resources Center located across from the Spalding Pastoral Center.

The library includes thousands of audio visuals, books, and other educational materials promoting the sanctity of life. Bishop Daniel Jenky says the center will serve as an educational tool for the schools and religious education programs within the Diocese. But he says it’s also open to the public.

“We don’t just want to preach to the choir. There’s a lot of great pro-life believers, Christians, non-Christians in our local community, but we want to reach out to people who maybe have not heard the good news of the Lord and don’t believe what we believe about the value of human life.”

Jenky says the center is also now the home to Catholic Charities and the Christ Child Society. Both groups provide services to families in need.
