Ameren expects slightly lower gas bills this winter

Ameren Illinois customers can expect their gas bills to drop slightly this winter.  The company says customers on average paid 57-cents per therm during the 2012-2013 heating season.  The price is expected to drop as low as 53-cents per therm through the cold winter months this year.

Ameren’s Gas Supply Manager says that’s because the company bought natural gas when prices were low and stored it for use this winter.  But Ameren officials say area residents may see higher bills if there is a return to normal winter temperatures this year. They say last year’s heating season was unusually mild resulting in lower usage.  Tips on keeping energy bills down are available at ActOnEnergy.com.
