The General Wayne Downing Peoria International Airport is being recognized among its peers. The Illinois Public Airports Association awarded the local facility with its Outstanding Achievement Award.
The Peoria International Airport received the honor thanks to the opening of its new terminal and the corresponding record number of passengers using the facility. The association promotes the development, construction, and maintenance of publicly-owned airports throughout the state.
