Shadid donates campaign funds to Bradley University

Retired Illinois State Senator George Shadid is donating his remaining campaign funds to Bradley University.

Shadid is giving $25,000 to the George P. Shadid Jr. Scholarship fund. The scholarship supports the Bradley University Fellows program, where 15 freshman are selected to develop their leadership skills. Shadid is also donating nearly $12,000 to Bradley’s Institute for Principled Leadership in Public Service.

Shadid, who also was a Peoria County Sheriff, is known for his bipartisanship in the state senate. He worked on various projects, including the I-74 reconstruction, the U of I College of Medicine Cancer Research Center and the Peoria Riverfront Museum. Shadid served 13 years in the Illinois Senate, retiring in 2006.
