The Peoria City Council spent nearly three hours in executive session after last night’s regularly scheduled business meeting.
Peoria Police Chief Steve Settingsgaard, members of his command staff, and rank and file officers were at the council meeting and remained in or near City Hall for the conclusion of the executive session. Settingsgaard was called in for some portion of the closed door meeting with the senior city attorney.
Peoria City Manager Patrick Urich says they were “just talking” and everyone involved in the closed door meeting is still employed with the city.
The lengthy executive session follows a series of Peoria Journal Star reports on Officer Donna Nicholson’s stalking allegations against officer Jeff Wilson. Nicholson recently requested an extension on her no stalking order, and the matter has further evolved into a legal question as to whether the order is constitutional. The broader legal question has the ability to void all no stalking orders statewide if its ruled unconstitutional.
