District 150 Board to discuss stadium, elects new president

The District 150 School Board’s annual reorganizational meeting included electing a new president and discussion about the Peoria Stadium property.  The Board elected Rick Cloyd president by a vote of four to two.  He was elected over Board member Martha Ross who’s ran multiple times for the post.  Outgoing president Chris Crawford says the board will discuss the future of the Peoria Stadium July 15th:

“What is the viability of commercial development of the Peoria Stadium property, what is the viability of it’s development as a park, what is the viability of us not owning the stadium going forward in the event we choose to have the stadium no longer the best use of the property,” Crawford says.

The Peoria Park District leases part of the Stadium land.  The Park board rejected offers by District 150 and Walmart aimed at redeveloping the property.  District 150 Superintendent Grenita Lathan says no recommendation on the property is expected at the July 15th school board meeting.
