The Peoria Area EMS Medical Director is stepping down. OSF Saint Francis Medical Center announced Cheryl Colbenson’s resignation is effective July 1st. She’s leaving to complete a fellowship in Integrative Medicine.
Colbenson was head of the agency when it suspended the license of Rescue 33. The volunteer organization used to provide ambulance service to Chillicothe. It’s still trying to regain its license as it competes with Advanced Medical Transport for the city’s business.
Chillicothe Mayor, Doug Crew, says Colbenson’s resignation should not delay a council vote on which organization will provide ambulance service. That vote could come as soon as the 24th or July 8th.
Doctor Rose Haisler will be the Interim Medical Director of the Peoria Area EMS starting July 1st.
