Caterpillar owns whole Peoria block adjacent to world headquarters

Caterpillar now owns the entire city block next to its world headquarters in downtown Peoria. Cat spokesman Rusty Dunn says the company completed the move with its purchase of the Peoria professional Building on Main Street.

The purchase price is thought to be nearly $3 million.

The property joins the Cat purchase of the Chase Building on South West Adams last year.

Dunn says the company now owns the entire block between Main and Fulton Streets. He will not confirm whether the purchase coincides in with the company’s world headquarters study. But he says that owning the property gives the company flexibility for future considerations.

Caterpillar undertook a facilities study of its Peoria World
headquarters last year. The results of the study and any building or refurbishment plans are expected to be announced sometime this year.
