Local contractors hear how to land state business

More than 40 large and small local construction contractors got the chance to hear how they can land state contracts. The Illinois Procurement Technical Assistance Center of Bradley University and State Senator Dave Koehler Monday hosted an outreach program for the area companies.

Participants were able to hear about various projects coming up for bid as well as state contract requirements under the Illinois Jobs Now Capital Construction Program. Senator Koehler says a common concern of potential state contractors is whether they will get paid on time.

“Projects are not let unless the money is there because you have to bond projects, and so the money is there before the projects are out the door. So, that’s a better guarantee for folks.”

The Capital Development Board conducted the outreach program. The board manages all state-funded, non-road construction projects. Similar events have taken place across the state.
