Federal, state and community leaders gathered in Peoria Friday to celebrate Bob Michel’s 90th birthday. The former Congressman served for nearly 40 years in the House until 1995. Michel says he’s honored to be recognized for his service.
“This has been a great district, and its kinda unbelievable and indescribable, but very wonderful thing for me,” says Michel.
The Bob Michel Bridge, V-A Outpatient Clinic and Bradley University student center all bear Michel’s namesake. U-S Transportation Secretary Ray LaHood and Congressman Aaron Schock were among those celebrating Michel’s 90th birthday.
