Flooding precaution urged for Peoria, Tazewell County residents

The rising levels on the Illinois River could pose a significant risk to residents living around Chillicothe and Rome.  Peoria County says the Illinois River is expected to crest at nearly 30-feet by Monday night.  The County says residents in those areas should be prepared to leave their homes if needed. Peoria County says it will send representatives into flooded areas in the coming weeks to conduct damage assessments.

The City of East Peoria says residents in the Richland Farms area and those near the river along Main Street also should evacuate if needed.  The city says residents should have an exit plan and have basic food and supplies if evacuation is needed.
