Jason Vieaux Joins HFO for "Guitar Classic" This Weekend

This week, we're talking with guitarist Jason Vieaux and conductor David Commanday. The Heartland Festival Orchestra presents a concert this weekend called "Guitar Classic." Vieaux is the featured soloist in a performance of Joaquin Rodrigo's "Fantasy for a Gentlemen," and in a contemporary piece called "Six Sixteen."

It's a return engagement for Vieaux, who also appeared with the HFO in 2014. The program also includes symphonies by Mozart and Haydn, which Commanday says compare to the Rodrigo work in their instrumentation. Vieaux also talks about the resurgence of  the guitar as a classical solo instrument in the past century.

The Heartland Festival Orchestra presents "Guitar Classic" tomorrow night at 7:30 at Five Points Washington.
