HFO Concert Presents Music of Paris

This week, we're talking with David Commanday, Artistsic Director of the Heartland Festival Orchestra.

Their next concert, "Springtime in Paris," presents music by Chopin, Chabrier, Debussy and Stravinsky. Commanday talks about the works on the program, and remarks on the role Paris has played as one of the great musical capital of the world. He also notes that at least two of the pieces have their roots in the world of ballet, reflecting the evolution that art form was experiencing at the turn of the century. And he talks about soloist Antonio Pompa-Baldi, making a return appearance with the HFO. Pomba-Baldi was the featured soloist with the orchestra's debut concert.

The Heartland Festival Orchestra presents "Springtime in Paris," Saturday night at 7:30 at Five Points Washington.
