On this week’s episode of Out and About, Dr. Mae Gilliland of ArtsPartners catches up with artist Valencia Davis of V’s Visions as she marks the one-year anniversary of her studio on Sheridan in Peoria.

After losing her vision due to a stroke, Valencia turned to painting as a form of healing and self-expression — building a vibrant and growing art business in the process. In the episode, she shares the obstacles she faced, the victories, and what she has learned about adapting, creating, and thriving as a blind artist and entrepreneur. The public is invited to celebrate with her June 21 and 22 from 11:00 a.m. until 6:00 p.m. at the Sunbeam Building.

Mae Gilliland Wright is the host of WCBU's Out & About.
