A Peoria nonprofit is at a crossroads after a large, white van was stolen from its facility.

On April 4, the Neighborhood House Association Peoria reported a white 2006 Ford Econoline van was missing from its van yard. Leaders with the nonprofit said an unidentified person had broken into the yard and stolen the vehicle used for the organization’s youth program.

The van was found shortly after, but Neighborhood House leadership said the damage is beyond repair.

“Now, we face a tough choice: raise $60,000 to replace it, or cut back vital youth programming due to lack of transportation,” the organization said in a social media post on Thursday.

In another post, Neighborhood House staff said the van is used for youth program field trips, noting the trips could be canceled without a new van.

The organization is collecting donations for a new vehicle.
