The Peoria County Sheriff's Office is investigating the death of a 39-year old man following an apparent single-vehicle crash Friday night in Hanna City.

According to a Facebook post, deputies responded to a report of a vehicle in a ditch in the 200 block of North Third Street. They found a dump truck in the ditch and witnesses reported that Keith Siegel, the likely driver of the truck, left the scene on foot.

Around 2:30 a.m., deputies were called to a business in the 12900 block of West Farmington Road, where a person found Siegel behind a dumpster not breathing. Siegel was pronounced dead at the scene by Advanced Medical Transport and the Peoria County Coroner.

Investigators say they reviewed camera footage that appeared to show Siegel falling from a retaining wall and hitting his head.

The incident is still under investigation by the sheriff's and the coroner's offices.
