Early voting is underway in Tazewell County for the April 1 general election.

The April election covers races for various offices, including mayoral positions, seats on school, library, park and college boards and official township positions. Tazewell County Clerk John Ackerman said the representatives selected will “impact your day-to-day lives more than any state or federal government official.”

Registered Tazewell County voters can vote early at Ackerman’s office in the McKenzie building in downtown Pekin. The office is open weekdays from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Ackerman said Tazewell residents who opted in to permanently vote-by-mail should keep a lookout for their ballot to arrive over the next few days. He said more than 10,000 ballots were mailed out Thursday.

Other important election dates are coming up across the Greater Peoria area. A primary election in both Peoria and Tazewell County is Tuesday, Feb. 25.

Early voting in Peoria County starts March 17.
