WTVP is reviving the 40 Leaders Under Forty program.
People who are under age 40 on Dec. 31, 2024 and reside in the 17-county area the Peoria-based PBS station serves are eligible for nomination.
“WTVP PBS is thrilled to bring back 40 Leaders Under Forty”, said Jenn Gordon, WTVP president and CEO, in a statement. “As a station we are committed to telling stories that engage, enhance, and inspire the communities we serve. We have outstanding young leaders in central Illinois who are committed to meeting local needs, growing strong businesses, and helping their community thrive. WTVP is pleased to provide a platform to recognize these individuals, tell their stories, and celebrate their achievements.”
The former Peoria magazines award became a WTVP property when the public station bought the now dormant magazine in 2021. The future of 40 Leaders Under Forty was in doubt amid the station's widely-reported financial issues in the wake of alleged embezzlement and mismanagement by the former president and CEO.
2024 award honorees will be announced next spring.
