Pekin man sentenced to 70 years in prison for infant daughter's murder

A Pekin man will spend 70 years in prison for the 2023 murder of his infant daughter.

Hunter Waters, 20, pleaded guilty Monday to first-degree murder in Tazewell County. His daughter Addison died after she was severely beaten last November. She suffered a fractured skull, internal bleeding, a lacerated liver, and multiple broken ribs.

Waters told police he was overwhelmed by the baby's crying. Her head was struck against a diaper changing table and a door, Waters reportedly told police.

He is not eligible for parole or credit for good behavior, and will serve all 70 years of his sentence.
