A teenager was arrested Thursday night after shots were fired at a Peoria police officer responding to a call on the city's South Side.

Officers were dispatched to the 2800 block of West Ann around 9:15 p.m. on a report of a person with a gun.

Three youths were spotted on a street corner. One reportedly fired at an officer before the trio fled on foot. The officer wasn't injured.

All three were caught after a brief chase. Two of the teens were released without charges. A 16-year-old was arrested for aggravated discharge of a firearm, aggravated assault on a peace officer, unlawful possession of a handgun under age 21, and aggravated unlawful use of a weapon.

The teen was taken to the Peoria County Juvenile Detention Center.

Officers found a gun in the 2900 block of West Proctor. Spent shell casings also were found at the scene.
