Peoria Police say a 16-year-old male was hospitalized Friday night with a gunshot wound to the chest.

According to a press release, police responded to a ShotSpotter alert in the 1900 block of West Kettelle Street around 9:40 p.m. They found no signs of a suspect or victim at the scene.

Police said they learned a 16-year-old shot in the chest had arrived at a local hospital in a private vehicle, less than 10 minutes after the ShotSpotter alert.

A department spokesperson said the juvenile's condition was listed as "stable but critical" Friday night and there are no further updates on his condition at this time.

There is no suspect information available. Anyone who knows more is asked to call Peoria police.
