An autopsy for a man found dead Tuesday in rural Peoria County is complete.

Peoria County Coroner Jamie Harwood said Kyle Jepson, 31, of Mapleton, was the driver who was found dead Tuesday morning in a vehicle in the woods off the road in the 10300 block of West Smithville Road.

Harwood said Jepson suffered multiple blunt force trauma injuries and likely died instantly.

Peoria County sheriff's deputies cut through brush to reach Jepson's vehicle. Authorities say speed was likely a factor in the crash. Sheriff Chris Watkins said it's believed the crash may have happened around 9 p.m. Monday, when residents in the area heard a tree fall.
