A 16-year-old will be charged as an adult in connection with an April post-prom shooting in Chillicothe that left another teenager partially paralyzed.

Amari Smith-Holley is charged with aggravated battery with a firearm. A Peoria County judge on Wednesday ordered him held in the Peoria County Juvenile Detention Center ahead of his trial.

The shooting happened on April 28 at the Valley Lakes Center. Responding sheriff's deputies found an 18-year-old with a gunshot wound to the head lying in the parking lot. That teen survived, but half of his body is paralyzed.

Prosecutors say the victim was a member of the "Jump Out Boys" group, which was feuding with another group called the "Snakes."

Witnesses, along with data from Smith-Holley's phone and iCloud, were used to connect him to the shooting, prosecutors said.
