Teenage passenger killed in suspected drunk driving crash in East Peoria

Yellow police tape stretches across a blurry crime scene. It says "Police Line Do Not Cross." The text "WCBU Police and Fire" lays on top of that photo.

A 17-year-old girl is dead after a single vehicle crash in East Peoria early Monday morning.

The crash happened just after 2 a.m. in the 3200 block of Springfield Road.

The 17-year-old was a passenger in the vehicle. East Peoria Police Deputy Chief Jason Ernst says the 16-year-old driver was arrested for aggravated driving under the influence of alcohol and aggravated reckless driving.

The Illinois State Police are reconstructing the crash. The name of the deceased teen wasn't immediately released.
