Play: The Heart of Illinois Fair is back this weekend at Exposition Gardens. Enjoy carnival rides, watch a magic show, pet your favorite barnyard animals and more at this annual tradition. The fair goes until 10 p.m. tonight, and from noon to 11 p.m. Saturday. Tickets are $5 for kids aged six to 12 and $10 for anyone over 12. Kids under six are free.
Celebrate: Head down to the Peoria Riverfront Saturday for the River City Pride Festival. This year's event features local music, Drag Wars, an affirming faith service and a puppy fashion show. The festivities begin at 10 a.m. and go to 10 p.m. Tickets cost $5 and are good for entry throughout the day.
Mingle: Interested in getting involved in theater? Meet the directors of the Peoria Players Theatre’s 2024-25 season Sunday to learn how you can get involved. The annual Get Acquainted event starts at 2 p.m. and is free to attend. Doors open at 1:30 p.m. This season's shows include The Color Purple, The Sound of Music and Grease.
