Out and About in Greater Peoria: International Night, The Great Catsby and a Spring Opera Recital

Here are 3 things to do for the weekend of April 26 through April 28, 2024, curated by WCBU's Meagan Ruger-Smith. You can find more coverage on our Out & About - Arts & Music page or by subscribing to WCBU's Weekend Fanfare email newsletter, which goes out every Friday.

Celebrate: The four Sister Cities groups of Peoria (Friends of Friedrichshafen, Germany; Benxi, China; Clonmel, Ireland; & Aytou, Lebanon) invite you to join them at the Itoo Hall tonight at 5 p.m. for Peoria Sister Cities’ International Night. There will be raffles, entertainment and more.

Support: TAPS is hosting The Great Catsby, a fundraising event tomorrow night at the Pekin Country Club. This year’s theme is the Roaring 20’s. Dressing to theme is encouraged but certainly not required to attend – come as you are! There will also be a silent and live auction, with baskets, gifts, and fun destinations to bid on. Tickets are $100 per person and doors open at 5 p.m.

Listen: You are invited to the Spring Opera Recital on Sunday at 4 p.m. at the Peoria Riverfront Museum. The full recital from the Opera Illinois League is presented by Miracle Amah, soprano and John Orfe, piano. Join them for an afternoon of beautiful music, engaging performance, friendships and a small reception.

Meagan Ruger-Smith is a sports communication major at Bradley University, with minors in ethics and journalism. Meagan joined WCBU in 2023.
